Christopher Miller and Phil Lord — who are behind hits “The Lego Movie,” the “21 Jump Street” films, and “The Last Man on Earth” — will direct a movie focused on a young Han Solo, according to The Hollywood Reporter

StarWars.com has confirmed the news and notes that the screenplay will be written by Lawrence Kasdan (wrote scripts for "Empire Strikes Back,""Return of the Jedi," and latest "Star Wars" film, "The Force Awarkens"). The film is slated for a May 25, 2018 release.

This is a nice rebound for the "Star Wars" spinoffs Disney is attempting to getting off the ground.

Last month, director Josh Trank dropped out of the spinoff he was directing, which was rumored to be Boba Fett origin story. A search for a director is still ongoing.

Harrison Ford returns as Solo in “The Force Awakens” when it hits theaters December 18.

Wednesday evening, WB games showed off footage from its upcoming Lego game out this fall, "LEGO Dimensions" at San Diego Comic-Con's preview night.

The game will feature multiple characters from various Lego franchises including Batman, "Jurassic World,""Lord of the Rings,""The Simpsons," and, will allow fans to play and interact with all of them in one place.

(If you're familiar with the Disney Infinity and Skylanders franchises, that's what WB Games and Lego is doing here with "Dimensions.")

Wednesday, WB Games debuted the first "Doctor Who" gameplay footage at the press event.

And, who better to introduce the footage than members of the cast and crew of the actual "Doctor Who" series?

After lending his voice to the game, Capaldi said the event Wednesday evening was the first time he was seeing the character in the actual game itself.

It showed as he and the rest of the "Doctor Who" cast and crew on hand couldn't take their eyes off the gameplay footage.

"This tiny little figure here is me with a little grey toupee on! It's amazing!" Calpadi said at the event.

To add characters to the game, you purchase buildable Lego figures to place upon the Lego Dimensions toypad (seen below).

Capaldi even got in on the action himself interacting with his Lego mini-me:

"LEGO Dimensions" will be the first time "Doctor Who" is in a Lego game. In addition to Capaldi's version of the Doctor, fans will be able to play as ALL 12 iterations of the Doctor.

From what we saw, "LEGO Dimensions" looks incredibly fun and adorable if you're familiar with previous Lego games.

(Imagine driving a Batmobile as Doctor Who. It doesn't get much cooler than that.)

"LEGO Dimensions" will be in stores September 27 on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PS3, and Wii U.

We're finally getting a better idea about the story driving LEGO's next video game and it looks awesome

This new game from LEGO takes advantage of the toy company's broad multiverse (and a universe-hopping baddie) to bring a whole range of characters and places together in a single game.

The game also features "toys-to-life" figures that, when placed on a "portal" (read: microchip detector), enter the game world. LEGO is far from the first to introduce this feature to a game, but they promise to make theirs highly customizable. With the company's penchant for creative construction, and huge potential for expansion packs, it will be interesting to see how far this new feature goes.

It comes out September 27, 2015.

The best ‘Star Wars’ LEGO you can get right now is a silver fox Han Solo

Tons of new "Star Wars" toys and products are in stores starting today to gear up for the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" this December.

Among the new toys are a bunch of LEGO sets.

We headed out to a Target late Thursday night and a LEGO store Friday morning to get a look at all of the new items.

While all of the LEGO sets look cool, there was one minifigure that caught our eye immediately — an older Han Solo straight out of the new film!

As you can see, he's incredibly detailed!

Here's how Harrison Ford will look in the new movie.

Yeah, pretty spot on!

Before this, you were able to get Han Solo in LEGO sets, but he looked as he did in the original trilogy, with a crown of brown hair. As you can see, he still appears to be the swashbuckling smuggler but now he's a silver-haired fox.

han solo lego

So how do you get him?

Unfortunately, you can't buy him as a standalone item — yet.

We went to one of the LEGO stores in New York City this morning, and for now, the silver-haired Solo is only available as a part of the new Millenium Falcon toyset which, according to Disney, should retail for $149.99.

That's how much it was in the Target we headed to in Bridgewater, NJ.

The LEGO store we headed to in Manhattan Friday morning on 23rd Street is selling the toy for $164.99.

It also comes with a few other "The Force Awakens" characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) along with a LEGO version of adorable ball droid, BB-8.

Bottom line: You'll have to splurge if you want this Solo.

That's not all we saw at the LEGO store. Stay tuned for a look at all of LEGO's new "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" sets.

Sunday, LEGO is coming out with its next video game, "LEGO Dimensions."

The game is LEGO and Warner Bros. Interactive's version of the popular toy to life game model. Similar to "Disney Infinity" and "Skylanders" before it, "LEGO Dimensions" requires physical toys which can be used as interactive pieces in a game.

It's sure to be on many kid's holiday wish lists.

The game let's you play as a range of different characters from popular movies, TV shows, and more who can all interact with each other on screen.

Imagine Batman and Doctor Who interacting with Chris Pratt's "Jurassic World" character and Scooby Doo.

Parents may be deterred by the price point. The starter pack, which comes with the game, three characters, and a vehicle which you assemble, will sell for $99.99, higher than its competitors. (A typical video game costs $59.99. The latest "Infinity" starts at $64.99.)

The game will be released September 27.

Tech Insider received a review copy of the game before it hits shelves. Keep scrolling to see what's inside.

Here's the "LEGO Dimensions" starter pack. The game is recommended for ages 7-14.

Our copy is for the PS4. But it will also be available on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U.

NOW WATCH: We're finally getting a better idea about the story driving LEGO's next video game and it looks awesome

I ran into a villain in the new Lego game that will probably terrify kids

LEGO released its new video game "LEGO Dimensions" Sunday.

I've been playing through a review copy of the game, and it's a lot of fun.

"Dimensions" is LEGO's version of the popular toy-to-life games popularized by Activision's "Skylanders" and Disney's "Infinity" series.

The game allows you to play as a number of characters from different TV shows, movies, video games and more who can all interact with each other on screen. (Imagine Batman meeting Doctor Who for the first time, and you start to get the idea.)

You start off with Batman, Wyldstyle ("The LEGO Movie"), and Gandalf ("The Lord of the Rings"). While you can finish the entire game with those three characters, you can also purchase more LEGO characters to play with in game and join the trio ranging from Scooby Doo to Chris Pratt's "Jurassic World" character, Owen.

gandalf batman wyldstyle lego dimensions

The best level I've checked out so far is a "Doctor Who"-themed one, the first time the BBC series will be appear in LEGO form.

While you won't be able to play as the Doctor until November, when his "LEGO Dimensions" playset will be released, you will be able to get a taste of "Doctor Who."

One of the game's early levels finds you on a planet filled with "Doctor Who" characters ranging from Cybermen to Daleks. You'll even get to see the Doctor himself, voiced by Peter Capaldi.

doctor who lego dimensionslego dimensions doctor who

While fans of the series will appreciate the well-thought-out level — there's a nod to Billie Piper's fan-favorite character Rose — that's not even the best part.

Half-way through the level, you come across a few harmless-looking angelic statues in a cemetery.

lego dimensions doctor who cemeterydoctor who weeping angels lego dimensions

If you're a fan of "Doctor Who," you know those are anything but harmless, they're Weeping Angels.

In one of the current series best episodes, 2007's "Blink," you're introduced to the statues.

blink doctor who

If you see one, you're not supposed to look away or blink when around it, hence the title of the episode.

doctor who weeping angels

If you do, the angels will move and close in on you. The moment you look at them again, they’ll look like statues. If an angel gets close enough to touch you, it sends you back in time to a random date and place.

Why?

The angels feed off the energy of the years a person would have lived in their present timeline.

They're frightening — the kind of stuff you're not expecting to see in a children's LEGO game.

angel doctor who

With this in mind, you can understand why I was incredibly excited and nervous when seeing the angels appear on screen. LEGO couldn't actually be putting real Weeping Angels in its game, right?

I went up to them numerous times baiting them, but they didn't budge. When I moved off screen and returned to them, I noticed they sometimes changed their stance when I moved off screen and returned to them; however, you usually need a power outage or a moment of complete darkness for them to move.

I figured this was the end of the angels — a nice little nod to a fan favorite.

Then, I moved onto the next room in the game.

It was dimly lit and there were even more angels.

angels doctor who lego

At first nothing happened.

It was the same as before. The angels changed their poses when I walked up to them and moved away.

gandalf doctor whoangel doctor who lego dimensions

Then, things started to get weird.

After going back and forth a few times, I noticed the angel looked a bit different.

doctor who lego dimensions

Scarier, to be exact.

lego dimensions doctor who weeping angel 1

Not so nice anymore, huh?

Still, the angels weren't moving, so that was a good thing.

To get to the next room, I needed to put a few energy cells into a generator of sorts.

That's when the real fun began.

gandalf lego dimensions 1

Each time I inserted a fuel cell into its chamber, the lights started flickering, and it was game on for the angels.

Whenever the lights went out, the angels were one step closer to my three characters.

The first time it happened was probably the scariest moment in the game so far.

doctor who weeping angels lego dimensions

Then they started chasing me all over the room!

lego dimensionslego dimensions

Let's just take a moment to look at a few shots of the Weeping Angels in all their demonic glory, shall we?

lego dimensionslego dimensionslego dimensions

If the angels got too close, they couldn't send me back in time. Instead, this terrifying sequence happened.

lego dimensions weeping angel death

The stuff of nightmares.

weeping angel lego dimensions

(For the record, there was a way to prevent the angels from killing you, but I wanted to know what happened if I didn't save myself.)

So, how did I make it stop?

lego dimensions

I had to hook up a makeshift battery into a generator across the room to restore the power.

lego dimensions

If you were zipping through this part of the level, it only took a few minutes to figure out the puzzle. (This is a kid's game after all.)

After I successfully made it across the room, almost unscathed, Gandalf, Wyldstyle, and Batman couldn't wait to high tail it out of there. No really, that's them running on their own.

lego dimensions doctor who

Once safely on the other side, we were, naturally, met by more Weeping Angels.

NOW WATCH: The trailer for Lego's next video game is exciting, funny, and will make 'Doctor Who' fans go nuts

It looks like we're finally going to get the superhero video game we deserve

Lego Avengers

Those of us with video game consoles who are also avid superhero enthusiasts don't get a ton to cheer about when it comes to new games of our favorite heroes.

With some notable exceptions (such as the "Batman Arkham" series), there aren't a whole lot of good superhero games. In fact, for the most part they don't even try to make them.

One of the reasons for that is that Lego games have taken over as the main player in delivering this stuff to fans.

I got a chance to grab a sneak peak at the latest of these games, "Lego Marvel's Avengers," and it looks awesome.

The team behind the game came to New York Comic Con ready to show off a ton of what this game has to offer, which is a lot more than I honestly expected. Many of us Marvel fans were very excited when "Lego Marvel Super Heroes" came out, but then were left feeling ultimately unsatisfied.

It was the first time we got a chance to play with characters like Spiderman and Iron Man in Lego games. That was cool, but it really wasn't cool enough. The game didn't really take you into the cinematic worlds of these characters. So you ended up playing stories that you didn't connect with, even though it was the characters you loved.

What we learned at NY Comic Con is that the frustration is over.

This game is going to have an incredibly deep connection to the movies and you're going to get to play in the different worlds that are part of them. You'll also be able to play in worlds that you may remember better from the comics, not to mention story lines from TV shows like "Agent Carter,""Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," and the upcoming Netflix series "Jessica Jones."

Lego Avengers

"In 'Lego Marvel's Avengers,' we not only have an open world Manhattan, but you also are able to visit Asgard, you're able to visit Malibu ... you're also able to visit South Africa," one of the game's creators said on the panel.

That's a huge change from what we've seen in the past. On top of that, you can play inside at least six of the movies, which is going to get Marvel fans very excited.

Here are the movies that will be in the game: "Avengers," "Avengers: Age Of Ultron,""Captain America: The First Avenger,""Captain America: The Winter Soldier,""Thor: The Dark World," and "Iron Man 3."

That's a rich amount of Marvel content, and finally within story lines that Marvel fans can identify with. Not to mention based on what creators told us at Comic Con, there will be dozens and dozens of new Marvel characters (new to Lego) you remember from the comic books and movies. That's going to lead to a ton of Easter eggs (and in fact they confirmed at the panel the game is chock full of little hidden gems).

It also looks like it's going to be just as much fun to play and entertaining to experience (see: hilarious cut scenes which we got a good look at) as other Lego games of the past. Lego is good at this, and this game likely won't be any different. The gameplay that they showed off along with a brand new trailer certainly lead us to believe it will be a blast and worth the money.

The ability to visit all these different worlds and play with so many specifically designed Marvel characters inside their own movies and stories is enough to make me want to buy this game. I can't wait until January 26, 2016 when this thing comes out.

Check out the trailer, which debuted at NY Comic Con, right here:

It doesn't matter how old you are, playing with Lego bricks is both relaxing and enjoyable.

You can use those little plastic bits to make anything you're creative enough to piece together. Some are more creative than others and can create masterpieces without the help of a guide.

Others, like yours truly, rely on the pre-packaged sets to help bring miniature visions to life. Now there's reason to get excited because a whole new batch of automotive sets are on the way.

According to Autoblog, the Lego database Brickset has updated its listings and there are a number of new sets to be found. The newcomers include the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Ford Mustang GT, Audi R18 e-Tron quattro, and Audi R8 LMS Ultra. There are some other curious additions listed as the Chevrolet Camaro Drag Race, Ford F-150 Raptor, Ford Model A Hot Rod, and the combo Porsche 919 Hybrid and 917K Pit-Lane.

All of the sets fall under the Speed Champions series, which was launched only recently. These sets are designed for both children and adults to enjoy. They're not quite as detailed as the Ferrari F40 that's part of the Creator Series. The Speed Champions are more affordable, though, and should provide just as much fun when all the pieces are in place.

Every once in a while, a popular brand falls off the map.

During that time they have two choices: accept defeat or make a comeback plan.

In the chance the brand chooses to make a comeback, a huge rebranding effort comes into play.

Gathered from surveys by Ranker.com these are brands defied the odds.

This popular clothing brand in the '80s had the advertising tagline: "When you put it on, something happens." But the brand slowly became dismissed in the fashion world because of its dated look. Lucky for them, retro is in. The brand relaunched in 2004 with a men's and women's line and has been seen being worn by celebrities such asAnne Hathaway, David Hasselhoff, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus.

From 2005 until 2008, Myspace was the largest social networking site in the world. Then in 2008, Facebook emerged and Myspace was forgotten. But now, Myspace is capitalizing on its music platform. This is the most frustrating part of buying expansion packs for the new ‘Lego’ video game

$

jurassic world lego dimensions

If you want to get the most out of Lego's latest video game "Lego Dimensions," you'll want to buy one of the many expansion packs that allow you to unlock additional content in the game. However, you may be left disappointed by what doesn't come with each set.

The expansion packs, which range in price from $14.99 to $29.99, come with a series of Lego pieces to assemble before playing with them in game. Sets come with characters and other accompanying mini-Lego creations.

After building, each creation can be put onto a toypad to virtually enter the game as such:

wyldstyle batman lego dimensionsLego Dimensions

Part of the fun is putting the Legos together before playing with virtual versions of them inside a game. If you've ever purchased a Lego set, you receive a little booklet with instructions for assembly.

However, if you don't have the game on hand, good luck building!

The mini sets don't come with instructions on how to piece together the Legos in the box.

Tech Insider recently received the $29.99 "Doctor Who" level expansion pack which was released early November.

It's the first time the BBC character is available in Lego form, so he'll most likely be purchased by fans of the game and collectors alike.

lego dimensions doctor who legosWhen taking the Lego pieces out of the box, we were given a booklet, but it didn't tell us how to put together the Doctor's time-traveling Tardis or his robot dog, K-9.

lego dimensions doctor who

Instead, we had directions on how to put together the 12th doctor (pretty self explanatory).

lego dimensions booklet

If gamers wanted to put together everything else, they were instructed to head to the game for virtual directions.

lego dimensions instructions doctor whodoctor who legos

It's incredibly frustrating for those who want to build the Lego minifigures after buying them.

Sure, you can turn on the console to continue building, but you can easily build one of the two Lego figures in the time you turn on the game console and load the accompanying video game.

And what if you don't have the full $100 game yet? For those who may just be collecting one-off sets like this "Doctor Who" one, they're left with a big old pile of Legos.

Others must feel the same way, too, as instructions from the game have made their way onto YouTube and online PDFs.

I get that the game wants to transition between the real-life toys and the video game, but this seems a bit excessive. There's really no reason to include the complete building instructions for the Lego kits in each package.

Lego must have anticipated fan feedback.

After clicking around the site I noticed you're able to download instructions to build any of the expansion packs.

doctor who lego building instructions

You're led to a page on Lego's customer service page which allows you to search for building directions to any Lego set.

It’s not the most ideal fix, but it does allow you to access any of the build instructions easily without loading up your game.

The YouTuber, who showcases his work on his Youtube channel, Astonishing Studios, has become a sensation. In just one week, his Chicken McNugget video has garnered over 240,000 views.

"Over the summer, I realized more people watch videos that feature brands that they love. Finding myself in a good position, I decided to make machines that dispense foods related to McDonald's, M&M's, Tic Tacs, etc.," he told INSIDER.

The McNugget dispenser took four days to make using a programmable robot kit called Lego Mindstorms. The machine is a technological masterpiece. It accepts coins, rejects wrong coins, and even stores money. A light sensor detects when a coin is inserted, which triggers a motor that releases both nuggets and sauce.

At just sixteen, he's bringing fast food into the future.

After the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in late 2015, we've been itching to jump back into the world of Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren. Who wouldn't want to wield their own tri-tip lightsaber?

Thankfully, Lego is teaming up with Disney to enable just that — behold "Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in all its adorable glory!

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Yes, that is a Lego light saber, held by a Lego version of Kylo Ren. And that's not all!

Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens

If you hadn't already caught the drift, the announcement trailer for "Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is a near-perfect re-creation of the original debut "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" movie trailer — albeit with a sprinkling of silly Lego-related goofs.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

So, what will you do in "Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens"? Much of the same stuff you've done in other Lego games; namely, exploring a Lego-ized version of "The Force Awakens" world, playing as your favorite hero or villain.

Better yet? There's some additional story content that will help fill in more of the story between "The Force Awakens" and "Return of the Jedi" ("The Force Awakens" takes place after the events of the original "Star Wars" film trilogy, which ends with "Return of the Jedi").
